And to believe at the start of this millennium a story about a Billionaire Media tycoon who becomes powerful enough to influence elections, and at the same time a business which is just a front for a crime syndicate would be considered ludicrous fiction.

I just watched a clip on t.v. of a British woman who stated that at first she thought that Wendi Deng had only married the puppet master for his money but, since she heroically sacrificed herself to save him from a pie-throwing comedian, she now believes it's true love after all.
I guess this means America hasn't cornered the market on stupidity.

I was talking with a friend of mine and debating whether this incident means Murdoch will lose control of Fox News. He insisted he will, but wouldn't commit to a date. I made him a bet that he'll keep control at least through the 2012 elections - barring the Grim Reaper finally slapping his Aussie ass back down under. But, what's your take? Perp walk, or Just walk?
Presumably the "investigation" will include inquiry into the possibility that Murderdoch, himself, hired the pie thrower for the since-confirmed distraction value.
I would suggest our alleged heroine was protecting not her husband but the father of her children, son of Murderdoch.
Yes, I did see the video, and the real heroine was the woman who tried to intercept the pie thrower and from BEHIND whose protecting body Ms Deng reacted so ineffectively late.
I will admit that Ms Deng's coral sweater was fetching.

Yea Eliot Cleaver in Tomorrow Never Dies was written as a satirical take on Murdoch. It's funny because in the Movie Cleaver using his media company tries to create war between Britain and China, when in reality Murdoch simply tried to create a war between the U.S. and the entire Middle East.
